Pro LUT

Our Best and Favorite LUT (Look Up Table)

This LUT is best suited for panning or moving footage and allows you to further fine tune other areas of your footage.

This LUT allows further editing space directly on your timeline for extra enhancement. This LUT suits variable shooting conditions where these is mild to subtle changes in contrast. color, and light. It may also be effective for your other clips as it’s designed and based upon your camera and dynamic range captured in your shoot.

The dynamic range of this LUT is fully extended which means the highlights and shadow limits are set. You can still add contrast and further color saturation. Depending on your footage, the scene may be able to be lightened and darkened to suit the variables in your footage.

If your footage varies in brightness along it’s timeline you may be better to set the LUT opacity at approximately 90% and adjust your timeline settings. Keep an eye on your scopes and histogram as you do so.

Pro LUT:
Dynamic Range fully optimised
Color Balanced
Color extended with no clipping
Contrast Optimised
Highlight contrast and color optimised
Mid-tone contrast and color optimised
Shadow contrast and color optimized
Luminance sharpening

Pro LUT Extended

Includes 2 LUTs

1x Pro Lut
1X Pro Lut Extended

An extension of the Pro Lut, this LUT further expands the existing and available color in your footage.

This LUT is ideal for static camera positions and subject matter such as interviews or any footage that is stable. If your color, contrast and lighting is static and stable then this LUT is your best choice.

We will extend contrast and color to their maximum values but leaving minimal editing headroom after the LUT is installed. To reduce the strength of the LUT, lower the LUT opacity in your software. This will, however, require you to attend to the white and black points in your timeline.

Pro Lut Extended:
Dynamic Range fully optimised
Color Balanced
Color extended with no clipping
Contrast fully Optimised and extended
Highlight contrast and color fully optimised
Mid-tone contrast and color fully optimised
Shadow contrast and color fully optimized

Instructions For Saving a Still Frame

Instructions General Overview

Our system works by you providing us with a saved ‘frame’ from within your editing timeline. Please follow the instructions at the checkout stage to ensure a smooth ordering process.
Note  – It is wise to create your still frame before you start the order process and transactions in the shop page.

Please Note – Your captured frame may be quite large – often around 6 Mb and above. Please be aware that the upload and checkout stage of ordering LUTs may be delayed due to the upload process.

1 – Load your video clip into your editing software timeline without a LUT loaded.
Check that your resolution is set to the same resolution that you intend to edit your video with.
2 – Avoid making any other adjustments to your timeline footage.
Record all your settings at this stage as the LUT is made from the timeline frame created with these settings.
3 – Position the playhead on a frame that suitably portrays the common tonality and color of the clip –
See tips on choosing a frame to capture, on the right or below for mobile.
4 – Take a still frame -see instructions on the right for FCPX, Premier and Davinci.
5 – In the save dialogue, select .tiff or .tif as the file format. Other formats will not be successful.
6 – IMPORTANT – Save this frame as the same name on the LUT order – We need to locate your file with a reference name. Random names and numbers for file names means we can’t always identify your file. Your file will be deleted from our systems in 2-3 days after your order is completed.
7 – You will be asked to upload your file/s during the checkout process. It is better to prepare your file prior to placing an order to avoid the order page timing out.
8 – We make the LUTs for your files.
9 – We send the LUT to you.
10 – Install the LUT into your timeline clip.

Choosing a Frame - Tips

Choosing the best still frame image for submission to us is important for your success of using our Custom LUT’s.

Choose a still frame that best covers the majority of brightness and contrast range of your footage.

For example: if you have footage traversing or panning from a dark area scene and then into a bright area scene, the most appropriate still frame to provide for a Custom LUT should be taken from a mid range point between the two.

If you are unsure about footage that varies dramatically our advice is to split your timeline clips and have a Custom Lut for each clip. Please advise us when ordering if you have split the clips.
